I replaced the standard omnidirectional TEV9 with the Taikon IM90.
The weapon does not work (at all) in the linked fire slot. It just sits there and uses a bit of energy. My primary weapon was an Omni Thermo.
So I went to a Ringer shipyard and swapped both weapons,

At the station I first removed the IM90
Then Replaced the Omni thermo with the IM90
This messed up the dockscreen, note there is no primary weapon displayed in the HUD
Then installed the Omni thermo in the now misplaced Weapon slot that still has linked fire properties, but does not work.

Result IM90 now fires, Omni Thermo does nothing at all but consume some energy.

See printscreens.

It's combination of issue with IM90 and '+omnidirectional' not working properly.

I have been fiddling with ship stat to make my own personal ship balance mode and found out tags are sometimes... a bit unreliable.

But the real issue is IM90. Linked fire for Minotaur works with 'whenInFireArc'. The problem is it seems IM90 either does not report to its fire arc correctly or does not have fire arc information at all. So it won't fire if you put it as an linked fire weapon.

Remove all weapons. Yes, ALL weapons. Then install your normal omnidirectional weapon first, which is your omni thermo cannon. Then install IM90. See if that works.

Removing all weapons and then installing the Omni Thermo first and the IM90 as primary weapon made linked fire work.

Note, when installing the Omni Thermo it is put in the linked fire slot if there are no other weapons installed. This will leave the weapon unusable if no primary weapon is installed. It still will not fire if it is the only installed weapon.

Yes, that seems the limitation of the linked fire. More like intended feature, which I don't mind really.

ferdinand 18 Jul 2020:

It makes using the Minotaur with only a single omnidirectional weapon impossible. This setup could be useful for some purposes where more devices are used as non weapons.

That can be fixed by having a virtual device that can be selected as a primary weapon and 'fired' but does not actually do anything when fired. This will allow the linked slot to be fired.

I fixed two bugs:

  1. I fixed the problem with IM90 not working in linked-fire mode.
  2. Under certain conditions (swapping weapons) we could end up with no weapon selected even though a primary weapon was installed. This is fixed in 1.9 Beta 2.

There are two more bugs that I did not fix:

  • If all you have is a linked-fire weapon, then there is no way to fire it. I'll fix this in a future version.
  • The position of slots is not always correct, if swapping weapons. I'll fix this in a future version when we have stable slots.
