MINING COLONY MISSIONS (CC)
[x] Increase payment for existing missions.
[x] Mission from mining colony to IMU(s)
[x] Mission 03: A prospector offers a tip on an underground cavern with
ore. 80% of the time, it is valid, with ore matching the system.
20% of the time, it is a false tip with totally random ore type.
[x] Mission 04: An asteroid enemy base is threatening the colony
    (must be asteroid station).
[x] Mission 05: A mine has collapsed! The player must dig out the mine
and rescue any survivors. Number of survivors depends on how long the
player took. Reward is per survivor.

CORPORATE ORE REFINERY (CC)
[x] Corporate ore refinery

A few ideas:

  • Make sure rewards are reasonable. Is 200 credits too low for defending a miner?
  • Add more variety to defending miners.
  • Add a tutorial mission to mine asteroids.
  • [Make sure mining asteroids with scanners/charges is reasonable.]
derakon 4 Dec 2019:

200 credits is too low simply because the player's time is worth more than that. We shouldn't be offering the player missions that pay less than, oh, 1000 credits IMO. If that means that really easy missions either aren't offered or are worth more than they "should" be, so be it.

It's like calling a contractor out to your house to tighten a screw: even though the job's really easy, they're still going to charge you at least $200 literally just to make it worth their time.

ferdinand 4 Dec 2019:

Or perhaps not only credits as a reward, but depending on the mission an additional reward like "If you succeed we will supply you with a full fuel load for your reactor as well" or "we will also restock you with the ammo you used and repair your armor for free if you get rid of those Outlaw miners" Anyway, that would also make the missions worth it for the same amount of credits.

megas 4 Dec 2019:

200 credits is too low if player needs to travel a long way and ends up burning too much fuel from shields being on or weapons fired for too long.

nms 5 Dec 2019:

1000 credits is actually quite a lot when you're just starting a game. But I'd agree missions should pay more. Probably at least 500.

kourtious 19 Dec 2019:

I think a way justify increased credits while increasing interactivity is to expand on the mission. After defeating the Centauri Raiders, the players have to escort back the miner. During the escort back, more Centauri Raiders would pop up to retaliate. The player would get 500 credits for this.

Now the interesting is that the escort back maybe more than it seems. There could be a ~50% chance that a Centauri Heavy Raider group would attack the miner during the escort. The Miner would say "Oh crap! That's a Centauri Heavy Raider. They want to blow me up!". After defeating or escorting the Miner to safety, the Miner would give the player an additional 500 credits for "flying the extra parsec" (running the extra mile) and saving his life.
