Asteroids block shots and can be mined. Having objects that are difficult to distinguish from asteroids but don't act like asteroids is really awful.

I do not fully agree (read: mostly disagree) with this. One of the succession games years ago included a mod that featured parallax scrolling asteroids and it was a very nice effect and made Transcendence look better. I think I mined and had no problem (no more problems than normal). Asteroids out-of-plane did not scroll as usual and were easy enough (for me) to tell apart.

With mining computer implemented recently, as long as these out-of-plane asteroids do not light up "unexplored", there should not be any problems. Player who wants to mine will need miner's hold, which gives mining computer.

That said, if these asteroids are included in sysFindObject calls, it would be nice to be able to exclude out-of-plane asteroids. That would need to be to exclude asteroids. Of course, there is making objects look like asteroids but not actually be asteroids.

The mining computer correctly ignores out-of-plane asteroids.

Also, I added a Settings.xml switch to turn it off: set no3DExtras to true and it will disable them.
