Using a portable scanner to identify antique insignias and starship fragments.
The scanner was "not sophisticated enough..." for the insignias so I used it to analyze the starship fragments.
Unfortunately on returning from the 'result' screen, "picks up the tell-tale spectra...", the cursor is always placed at the top of the list over the insignias. The player has to scroll down for every analysis of a starship fragment.

Testing showed that analyzing other items maintains the cursor position. ROMs, cubes and barrels were tested. Only analyzing the forgery items results in the cursor resetting to the top of the list.

Might that be because when you identify the item, it removes the item from the stack? That is, you have the un-ID'd items A, the stack of known forgeries B, and the stack of known real items C. You ID an item in A, it gets moved from A to B or C. With the other item types this doesn't happen -- when you ID it, the entire stack gets ID'd.
