I just saw it in action in the intro screen. It obliterated the following ships in a row:
A Deimos, followed by an Excruciator, followed by an Aquila followed by another Deimos then a few vikings, several 1M autons, an Ares turret, a Chasm followed by a Manticore and still going on...

Given that the Deimos and Aquila usually appear after the Huari missions, they should at least be able to last longer instead of being obliterated in less than 2 seconds

The Earth slaver is tough for its level, due to having a primary ammo weapon, but this seems implausible. I just tested, and a single Deimos defeated an Earth slaver, followed by 2 more, then 3 more, and almost defeated 4 more, but lost to the last one after its main gun got damaged.

ferdinand 18 Aug 2018:

Yes I tought it was weird, Funny thing is, the Deimoses and Aquila spawned facing away from the slaver and within its range, they immediately got spewed with particle and antimatter rounds into them, before they could turn. Maybe this dropped their shields fast and instead of attacking the AI decided to flea, causing them to be sitting ducks...

megas 18 Aug 2018:

Earth Slavers also have Shi3lds Down cyberdeck.

antimatter rounds

Oh, you mean the Dragon slaver. That's a quest boss and it's very nasty.

ferdinand 18 Aug 2018:

Yes, indeed had the wrong name in my head.... Dragon slaver it is...
Sorry, changed the title accordingly.

Think about the Dragon Slaver in the context of where it appears canonically. The player would likely only meet it after having gained enough firepower to destroy lots of Sung Slavers with ease. You won’t see it fighting other capital ships (besides Hurin), anyway.

ferdinand 19 Aug 2018:

Yes I know, but up until 1.7 the Dragon is hardly a match for neither the Aquila or the Deimos. They defeat it with relative ease. In 1.8 it is more than a match for them.

megas 19 Aug 2018:

Dragon Slaver? I have no problem with it being a match against endgame enemies. It is a legendary boss ship with an endgame weapon and normal fire rate (instead of half like most enemies).

There is only one in the standard game, and its target is your ship. If it is the only enemy in the system, you can probably camp somewhere while the Hurin destroyers kill it for you.

ferdinand 19 Aug 2018:

It is not that I have a problem with it, I can handle it. But I fear new players will have a very nasty surprise and a very quick demise.
Which is not bad per se.
However I think it has become even more powerful in 1.8 than it already was.

megas 19 Aug 2018:

The Dragon Slaver is significantly more durable because it gained hull recently and it has many more charges for its Qianlong, but it is otherwise much the same as it was. Once the player knows what the Dragon Slaver can do, it is only a real problem if player must deal with it and the advancing wall of Earth Slavers if that mission branch gets chosen. (If player chooses either Sung base or solo Dragon Slaver branch, player can dictate terms of battle.) If player does not have time pressure, Dragon Slaver can be mostly neutralized by camping wherever the Huari are and let them kill or severely damage it.
