I don't know why whenever i only have single wingman,I can't buy ship for him/her.For example,Volkov joined me and I have enough money to buy a new ship for him.The moment i arrived at nearest commonwealth drydock,buy for wingmen menu highlighted but it's unable to display Volkov's ship so I can't trade it.But once I had another wingman,I'm able to trade their ships.

Can confirm, I had Jenna and could not buy a new ship for her until I also got Rama. Unfortunately Rama met his destiny one system later when he singlehandedly decided to engage a Ventari destroyer
