Fuel consumption is probably too high for most starting load-outs.

  • Spartan-class: Starts with a hull-plate ionizer, which draws 4 MW (twice the Class II on the Wolfen). Total consumption is 6.7 MW. In comparison, the Wolfen (which also has fuel problems) consumes only 6 MW total (3 MW for dual laser, 2 MW for class II, and only 1 MW for launcher).
  • Hercules-class: Very similar load-out to the Sapphire, except for an extra 0.5 MW for the CDM shard (total is 2.5 MW). It should be fine as is.
  • Raijin-class: Otoroshi consumes 3 MW, + 2 MW for class II, + 2 MW for launcher+CDM shard (7 MW total).

Don't forget drive and life support when calculating total power. But total standby power might be a more relevant measurement for ships that can't overload their reactor like the Wolfen could with its old shield.

See also Hercules should start with more credits. Or better equipment, as I suggest.

It might also be interesting to give us a method for adjusting the life support power-use of a ship.

I have done some testing, and I think the core issue is not with the ships. The issue is the reactors themselves. While it's less of a concern, the same problem does crop up in SOTP now that the fuel consumption bug has been fixed. It may be worth revising the Nova 10 and 15 reactors in general to improve their fuel consumption figures.
