…And they often don’t, at least not on playerships. One of them will fire the selected ammo, but the other one has a tendency of not doing so, especially if you have tabbed to other ammo types, run out of one type of ammo and been automatically switched to another, or some combination thereof.

This is probably related to the issue with AI ships that have two linked launchers not aiming properly. I'd link the tag, but it seems to have disappeared.

 You’re referring to the fact that the Sigyn (from CC) doesn’t fire the same missile from its linked launchers. Very probably related, yes. I expect the Corporate Cruiser would suffer similar issues if it had more than one type of ammo.

The engine isn't good about handling multiple launchers (I'm not even sure how the Corporate Cruiser gets away with it).

assumedpseudonym 12 Feb 2016:

 As long as there’s only one type of ammo available on the ship for each launcher, like with the Corporate Cruiser, everything is groovy and the engine treats the launchers pretty much like any other ammo-based weapon. The Sigyn would probably be fine if it only had tracking or non-tracking ammo. (Hell, I have one ship in TBR with seven launchers — NAMI x4, Rasiermesser x2, NAMI heavy x1 — and the whole setup works just fine as long as I keep each type of launcher to one available type of ammo.)
 Granted, this is just from my own personal experimentation. Here, have a salt shaker, since just a grain may not be quite enough. <.< >.> <.<;

I made a couple of fixes in 1.7 Alpha 2:

I fixed the AI so it consistently selects the same missile for linked-fire launchers. NOTE: This works best for launchers of the same class. Otherwise, the selection is independent (and somewhat random).

I fixed the ship code so when a launcher runs out of missiles, we switch all compatible linked-fire launchers at the same time.

I've tested this with the Sigyn, but not with player ships, so please give it a try.

 Looking forward to testing it out, Boss.
