This is almost certainly a difficult thing to do, but it would be extremely useful in the mid-long term. At present, fragments from an explosion are radiated out at predictable intervals. This makes sub-munition weapons like the Kairyu and S3 look.....odd. It also makes it difficult or impossible to make certain types of weapons (eg. Shaped charge warheads).
Allowing the specification of angle (or an angle range) for fragments would allow, for example, a cluster-munition that sprays its missiles in a 20 degree cone in front of the missile when it detonates. This opens up more options for interesting and innovative weapons.
Agreed. I almost added it this last version for some of the ED weapons, but it was a little harder than I thought.
Re-bumping this up to the heady days of 2017, since we still sort of need this.
