The 'mission' only checks if a shield is installed, not whether it has any hitpoints. Thus using a shield that doesn't have any (novaya repairer, modded shield-slot devices, or a shield that's been manually disabled) will cause an immediate fame boost on starting the match because the game checks and finds that your shield is at 0hp.

We probably could have some fun logic for these situations, but moving the check to look at what your starting shield HP is might be a quick fix?
